My Story

Moetik? Maktak? Mautik?

My Name

My dad wanted my name to stand out and be unique amongst the crowd. Hence, he named me "Mauktik," coming from the Sanskrit word "मौक्तिक" (pronounced Moe-Kuh-teek) which means "pearl."

This word comes from a Sanskrit poem,
शैले शैले न माणिक्यं मौक्तिकं न गजे गजे। साधवो न हि सर्वत्र चन्दनं न वने वने॥
There does not exist a ruby in every mountain;
Nor every elephant is adorned with a pearl on its head.
Sandalwood trees are not found in every forest;
similarly, a true noble person is not found everywhere.

Sharing Stories

My Dream

Luckily, the skills and views I gained from my past experiences are applicable to design. Storytelling has been a part of my life ever since I learned the art of public speaking in 7th grade. Stories are a crucial tool in any industry to create an emotional stake in one's product/service. While I am continuously learning and developing my knowledge base, I aim to progress towards gaining knowledge in UX design, marketing, project management, and product space.
